Located in the South Eastern part of the Country (between Nairobi and Mombasa) and considered one of the largest and oldest parks in Kenya, Tsavo East National Park is a nature and outdoor lover’s haven. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife like the big five plus many more. It’s also home to over 500 bird species alongside a vast and breathtaking landscape characterized by open plains, bushy grasslands, dense thickets, and the Galana River which flows through it and is a vital water source for the animals.

  1. Accessibility – Located 233 km from Nairobi and about a five-hour drive. The park is accessible by road and train (If you take the SGR to Voi Town)  hence a quick and easy place to visit.
  1. Activities – The park offers a plethora of fun and adventurous activities such as birdwatching, bushwalks, game drives, hiking, and camping.
  1. Accommodation – There are a number of accommodation options within the park ranging from Camps, luxury Lodges (like the Boma Simba Safari Lodge), cottages, and budget campsites.
  1. Climate – The climate in Tsavo East National Park is hot and dry, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 40°C. The park receives most of its rainfall between March and May and between October and December.

  • Pack light, comfortable clothing, and sturdy shoes for walking and hiking (hiking boots or sports shoes would be handy). Additionally, carry long-sleeved shirts and pants to protect you from mosquitoes and the sun.
  • Socks to wear with your boots/shoes.
  • A hat to protect you from the sun.
  • Warm clothing for early morning and evening game drives.
  • Swimwear if your accommodation has a pool.

Toiletries
